After a week off from Oktoberfest– it’s time to hit the road for the biggest German festival of the year– Wurstfest in New Braunfels, TX! It’s always a great time– and this year is no exception! First, I am happy to announce that I will be doing an extra show at the festival on the opening Saturday at the new venue- (Stelzenplatz)- with my good friends, Max Baca and Los Texmaniacs. This Grammy Award winning conjunto group will be performing repertoire which has roots in Germany and Austria before developing in Mexico and the southwest USA. I’ll be playing a few songs with the band, as Max Baca and I have been recording together for the last few years and always look forward to collaborating together!
Of course, The Alex Meixner Band will be featuring the usual suspects– Ed Klancnik on drums, Mikey Kramar on Horns, strings, accordions and things and Hank Guzevich on Horns, Guitar and Polexican shuffles– as well as Michael Bridge on Accordion for the weekend gigs. We’ve got some new tunes to showcase– especially from the new “Happiness is a Choice” cd and we’ll also have the new cd and hat pins for sale– as well as premiering the new “Happiness is a Choice” t-shirt! (Watch for it on the online store very soon!) We hope everyone enjoys the show and stuff… (I’m especially proud of the stuff on this go around, as my 7 year old daughter Zoey did the water color that is gracing the cd cover, hat pin and new t-shirt!!!!!)
The schedule will be crazy as always down there– but I look forward to seeing all of my friends at Wurstfest!
