I’ve been sitting at home and in absolute awe of the frigid winter weather enveloping the entire USA, especially my dear friends in Texas. Hopefully, as this newsletter goes out, the power is being restored, and that everyone is safe in their homes. Here in Florida, the weather has been actually a bit warm for February so we’re actually able to have a few outside gigs this weekend.
But first, I just got called to play at a local German restaurant for the first time this Thursday, February 18. So if you’re in the neighborhood of Ethan’s Grill in Hobe Sound, I’ll be strolling with my accordion starting around 6 pm. Paula and I went there for the first time a few weeks ago and had some excellent rouladen, so I’m looking forward to playing a few tunes for the locals and snowbirds!
On Saturday The Alex Meixner Band will be making its premiere performance at the Martin County Fair in Stuart, FL. We’re playing one 90 minute power set at 4 pm Saturday, February 20 for the closing day. In addition to myself, Tom and Joe we will be joined by Polka Hall of Famer, multi-instrumentalist Wally Dombrowski. I’m excited to feature Wally’s artistry on concertina, trumpet, and vocals!
Then on Sunday, The Alex Meixner Band returns to Summer Crush Winery in Fort Pierce, FL from 1-4 pm. It’s a nice, comfy setting under the pavilion where everyone can spread out to enjoy the nice weather in a Covid-safe environment. In addition to myself, Tom and Wally, we’ll be joined by Rick Piotrowski on Sax, Clarinet, Trumpet, and Vocals. Something tells me we’re going to have a few more Polish-style polkas in the repertoire!
A few more gig announcements should be coming up for the late summer and fall as vaccines continue to be distributed and hopefully, we’re able to see light at the end of the tunnel from the Covid crisis. Please keep an eye on the website and social media as well as check out www.patreon.com/alexmeixner for some new music in addition to the new and classic videos being posted on the YouTube channel. Tell your friends. Heck, tell your enemies, maybe we can all choose happiness and feel better!
