This double-length cd features 2 complete albums. Beliebte Volkslieder (Popular Folksongs from Germany and Austria) was originally released in 1974 with Resi on vocals and yodeling accompanied by Al Meixner. Many of the traditional selections have never been recorded before or since in the USA. Two selections- Leobner Marsch and Zillertaler Hochzeits Marsch (Austrian Wedding March) were added in the 1990 re-issue. The second album “Meixner Musik”- was originally released in 1992 on cassette only. The album celebrates 4 generations of Meixner family music in the USA. Original compositions by Alex’s Great Grandfather, Leopold are featured along with songs that were popular with Meixner family orchestras from the 1930s through the 1990s. 26 songs and over 70 minutes of music make this a great value of German-Austrian/ American music.
