I'm preparing for a road trip. This is normal stuff for me, normally. But not having been on the road in nearly 5 months, it is feeling a little weird. But, it's good to get back to it.
We're getting the band back together. The good ol' Blues Brothers Polka boys, or something like that (to reference one of my favorite movies of all time!) Tommy, Jimmy, Chris, and myself will be joined by our good friend Dave Kline for a few gigs in Pennsylvania and Maryland. (Paddy will be making the trip later in August)
There are still some tickets available for my Patreon subscribers and members of the Reading Liederkranz for our Friday, August 7 event at Reading Liederkranz as well as for the Sunday, August 9 event at the VE Club in Warminster, PA, both of which will feature the full band. Sunday, August 16 brings Tom and I as a dynamic duo to the Bavarian Brauhaus in Hanover, MD. In all cases, we will be abiding by state regulations and CDC guidelines for social distancing due to COVID-19. This is new for all of us and we're doing our best to make sure that we're all able to have Gemütlichkeit for our audiences, make the best music we can and stay safe for our families. I know we all have varying tolerances for the risks associated with COVID-19, but we need to maintain empathy for those of us that are high risk or have close family who are high risk. When in doubt, extra caution is the best route for me and I hope we can all respect the cautious nature of the regulations so we can still have these events.
In between these performances, I will be in residence at Liberty Bellows accordion shop in Philadelphia where I will be doing a series of demonstration and educational videos. I'm excited about this opportunity to work with Mike and his staff on this project.
I am also hard at work with new music and reworking some of the vintage stuff for the Patreon audience. I am grateful for everyone that is joining me over on this new platform and helping to keep producing music in these crazy times.
Stay well-- healthy and happy! alex
