The creative process of the recording studio has been a passion of mine since my Dad first let me plug in the old Akai 4 track, gave me 2 reels of old tape, the Tapco mixer and access to a few mics and cables to see if I could put some stuff together when I was in 6th grade. When I'm recording I can work things out and delete stuff that fails or grow from it. I also can find some of the musical magic and now collaborate with musicians in a variety of capacities.
Fast forward from 1989 to 2020-- with gigs gone for at least 4 months (to date)-- I'm working on music in every way possible at home for the most concentrated period of time ever in my life. Practicing out of books that I have been stacked up for years (moving from house to house in many cases), composing new music, digging through old recordings to refine my past work, and explore other people's music- and of course, recording new music of my own.
I have started a site at www.patreon.com/alexmeixner in order to give my fans access to the music that will be coming out on CDs, streaming, downloads, and vinyl- before it is formally released. In some cases, it will be music that is exclusively available through this platform. For as little as $3/month- you can support my musical work and hopefully enjoy a diverse mixture of everything from the polkas and rock covers that I typically do with the band to some of my jazz, original singer/ songwriter, instrumental soundscapes and well-- anything that comes up. At other tiers, you can gain access to behind the scenes videos that won't be on other platforms about the creation of the music, advance ticket sales before the general public, participate in monthly zoom happy hours with me and other fans- as well as polls to guide my musical productions and up to the University level that includes a monthly 60-minute facetime or Zoom personal music lesson.
If you're able, I sincerely hope you'll consider joining me on this new venture, as well as share it. If there's something you'd like to see added on as a perk- I'm open to suggestions!!
As always- feel free to send me your comments at alex@alexmeixner.com-- stay well and healthy and happy!
