We all had a great northeast trip at the beginning of August. From a capacity crowd at the Evergreen in Fleetwood, PA and rocking tents at Hunter Mountain and Musikfest in Bethlehem to some of the more intimate shows in between- it was a really special trip. The mix of old and new fans—and musicians (Thanks Joe Mariany for pinch hitting from Spitze!) was really special…. I’m so excited every time we get to try new music and connect with the audiences—but this trip really crystallized it for me. The little show in Steelton, PA was especially meaningful. Playing so many of the old songs in the barroom at St Lawrence brought back memories and showed how times can change but the power of the music can still remain the same. Jamming with Raczar, as well as John Salov and Mark Dubravec from the Polka Quads was just a blast—and I hope we’re able to do it again… Regardless of the day of week, or how many people are in the audience- the music just brings out an energy and love that makes me happy… Thanks to all of you who come out and join in it!
In the meantime, after a crazy week at home with the kiddos- I’ll be hitting the road again to return to the Minnesota State Fair. Saturday and Sunday August 24-25, The Alex Meixner Band will be rocking (polkaing!!!) the Leinie Lodge Bandshell for 2 afternoon sets each day. This is always a great event with superb entertainment lineups, world class sound and of course, the best fried delicacies anywhere on Earth! I always enjoy this gig that we get to do every few years, and look forward to seeing all of our friends up in the Twin Cities over the weekend.
Check out the schedule for a bunch of new dates being announced real soon—Oktoberfest will be kicking off on Labor Day Weekend in Cleveland, OH in just a couple of weeks!
