The weather has broken out of triple digits here in New Braunfels, just in time for some really special local performances for me!
On Thursday, September 14, my good buddy Brett Cline and I will be doing a special duo concert at Natural Bridge Caverns. Brett is a brilliant artist on piano, guitar, and vocals. I’ll be playing Piano Accordion, Button Accordion, and some horns in this unique concert venue. There are only a handful of tickets left for this exclusive event. The sound will be impeccable and the setting will be spectacular. I’m looking forward to making music with Brett for this performance.
Saturday, September 16 is the official opening of Oktoberfest internationally as well as Mexican Independence Day. Here in New Braunfels, we mark the occasion with the official keg tapping of Faust Brewing Company’s “OktoberFaust” beer. Oktoberfest is one of the finest Marzen lagers I’ve ever had from any corner of the world and we’re celebrating the occasion in a very awesome manner. We have Danzantes de Corazon, a Mexican Folklorico dance ensemble performing, and then for the first time in 10 years, Polka Freak Out-(my Grammy-nominated collaboration with Bubba Hernandez) will take the stage. Tommy Halla and Art Hays will round out the band as we perform some of our recorded tunes and a mix of German, Mexican, and a whole bunch of other stuff. Performing with Bubba in the PFO gigs was a very important time in my life as I learned to experiment with different recording combinations, touring, and performing. I can’t believe it’s been so long since we were rocking out and hope to see a whole bunch of people come out for this very special gig. We’ll hit the stage around 7:30 and play for y’all as long as we can!
Finally, on Sunday, September 17, I’ll be dropping over to the Lennon Aid Block Party at Krause’s Cafe to help support the Walther Family’s charity that assists families with children experiencing debilitating illnesses. I will be sitting in the dunk tank at 3:30 p.m. Come sink me in the water while I wear my lederhosen swim trunks for a good cause! 😉
