This has been a very challenging past few days for so many people internationally. I am thankful that my family, friends and fellow musicians are relatively safe and healthy as of right now and we are all taking as many precautions to remain that way as possible. With the danger and the spread of the Coronavirus, most people are aware of the unprecedented travel restrictions and cancellations of large events. It is obvious that these organizations and businesses would not be cancelling without due cause because of the massive losses of income and investment in the major sporting events, tech conferences, concerts, etc. That being said, it started getting real for me when I got the initial call that our annual gig at the Tomball German Festival would have to be canceled because of the health concerns. As more cancellations on our March and April schedule have been made it has become a truly surreal situation. Being that touring is the predominant income source for me and many of the people in my circle, it is extremely scary to watch something that we're completely powerless wreak havoc on our livelihoods. I am having to remind myself constantly to remain thankful for the fact that we're healthy and safe at home during these uncertain times and that many others are in worse positions.
The guys in the band and I are all doing our best to continue making music and finding ways to get it out to you so you can find the positive in these difficult times. If you're around the New Braunfels, TX area stock up on Alex Meixner Polka Pils from the Faust and enjoy some of our music on cd or whatever other listening sources you have. I'm also putting some new videos together and going to work on activating the YouTube channel a bit to hopefully get people revved up for when we can return to the road. (I'm sure everyone will be ready to roll into party mode once we get the all-clear to get back to life as normal-- whatever that is?!?
Please stay safe and do your best to have patience and compassion for your neighbors. We're all going through varying degrees of issues regarding this crisis and hopefully, this allows people to help each other more and discover our needs for common, decent humanity above the frays of our differences.
Much love and please find your way to choose happiness.
