Chicagoland Twirl (Frankie Yankovic Polka) played on a Cordovox Super V

As National Polka Month continues on, I had the opportunity to try out a classic 1970s Corodvox Super V from my buddy Jameson Brettman of the Happy Players Band in Fremont, Nebraska. Although America’s Polka King, Frankie Yankovic, never played a Cordovox, many of the midwest Polka bands interpreted his tunes with these early electronic accordion hybrid instruments. Marv Herzog of Frankenmuth, Michigan was probably the most identified with the Cordovox being the signature sound of his “Bavarian Polka Band” from the 1960s through 2001.

Many bands have played Chicagoland Twirl in different polka styles through the years. From the traditional Yankovic sound with 2 accordions, upright bass, banjo, and piano ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evNvS3ith0Q to renditions by Lenny Gomulka, the New Brass, Dick Rodgers, Joey Miskulin & Jeff Winard, Mollie B and Squeezebox and many more.
