I just got home last night from a great trip to Texas. I’m so happy to have met some of the great musicians that were celebrating “The Big Squeeze” in Austin. Special thanks to Texas Folklife for this really awesome work, all of the competitors and Los Fresnos High School’s Conjunto Halcon. I’m so encouraged to see all of the enthusiasm and hard work on the music!
Now -I’m in the studio with another cool project that will be announced soon- in addition to putting finishing touches on the upcoming Alex Meixner Band album- “Make Some Noise” before I fly out to Philadelphia for one day of clinics and a concert with the Ridley Middle School Jazz Band. Then I’m home and romping around with my kids for a weekend before hitting the road with the band for our northern Maifest tour.
There are some great highlights to check out– May 4 is our only scheduled Cleveland appearance for 2018 (as of right now)- so let’s make sure it’s a great one! STV Bavaria is sponsoring us, and performing as well- so we all know it’s going to be a fun time! May 5 opens the outside season at the Reading Liederkranz as we celebrate Cinco de Mayo and the Kentucky Derby along with a rocking polka time before we travel down the road to Pottstown for Sly Fox Brewery’s Annual Bock Fest and Goat Race!
Also– don’t forget about our free gigs on Tuesday, May 8 at the Sands Casino Molten Lounge in Bethlehem, PA (no reservations necessary) and Wednesday, May 9 at WSKG TV studios in Binghamton, NY— you need to make reservations for the seating and so you can be in the TV audience!
Oh– and!!! The Alex Meixner Band was named Best International Band by the International Polka Association for this year. We’re thankful to all of the electors and most importantly the fans who support our gigs and recordings!!
Thanks!!
