Grammy-nominated musical artist Alex Meixner has joined Music Publishers of America, LLC (“MPA”) as Vice President, according to Steve Harris, MPA President. Meixner – a veteran composer, arranger and performer of a wide cross-section of musical genres – will have primary responsibility for MPA’s development activities, including expansion of the company’s current music publishing business into other genres and identifying and assisting in the acquisition of musical properties.
Meixner, a fourth generation professional musician, began his music career over three decades ago at age 6. Meixner now headlines at venues across the country and abroad. He builds upon his musical roots in the ethnic music of Europe with a blend of jazz, reggae, classical and folk music genres. Meixner is proficient in a number of instruments and also is an accomplished composer and arranger.
MPA’s mission is to publish, promote and preserve America’s culturally- and historically-significant music, according to Harris. One of the pearls of the company’s business is its complete library of Vitak-Elsnic music, which has dominated the American-European folk and ethnic music scene for decades. “Alex’s lifetime of experience in the music industry will boost our efforts to exploit MPA’s library of Vitak-Elsnic music,” Harris said. “Working with Alex, we’ll develop other outlets for this beautiful music, which is so much a part of our country’s musical heritage. Alex also will add tremendous value as we branch out into other genres and related businesses.”
In addition to his responsibilities with MPA, Meixner will continue his existing performance and other ventures.
